Venus retrograde in Scorpio, October to November 2026

Venus stationed retrograde on October 3 at 8 degrees of Scorpio and turns direct on the evening of November 13 at 22 degrees of Libra. Here is what happens in between, why this one runs deep, and what you can do with it.

The dates, in Pacific time

  • October 3: Venus stations retrograde at 8°29' Scorpio.
  • October 23, evening: Venus passes between Earth and the Sun at 0°41' Scorpio. Astrologers call this cazimi, the heart of the retrograde.
  • October 25: Venus slips back into Libra.
  • November 13, evening: Venus stations direct at 22°52' Libra.
  • December 15: Venus passes 8°29' Scorpio again, the degree where the retrograde began. The whole story is finished.

Venus goes retrograde about every eighteen months for roughly six weeks. It is the rarest of the personal planet retrogrades, which is one reason it tends to be felt.

What a Venus retrograde is

Venus does not actually move backward. From Earth it appears to, because it is passing us on the inside of its orbit. Before the retrograde, Venus is the evening star, bright in the west after sunset. During the middle of the retrograde it disappears into the Sun's light. After, it rises before dawn as the morning star.

Astrologers read that sky story as a cycle of review. Venus rules what we value, who and how we love, money, beauty, and what we find pleasant. When Venus is retrograde, those things come up for a second look. People from the past reappear. A relationship question you thought was settled asks to be answered again. What you want and what you have been settling for come into sharper contrast.

The traditional advice is simple. It is a time for reconsidering, not for final decisions. Many astrologers suggest holding off on big changes to your appearance, large purchases of beautiful things, and vows you cannot easily unmake. Reunions, honest conversations, and clearing old accounts are what the period is for.

Why this one goes deeper

Every Venus retrograde has the same shape: evening star, then invisible, then morning star. That shape is itself a transformation. Venus goes into the dark, meets the Sun, and comes out on the other side as a different light in a different part of the sky.

This retrograde started in Scorpio, and Scorpio is the sign of the phoenix. Scorpio does not do surface. It wants the truth about desire, trust, intimacy, and what is shared, including money and power in a relationship. A Venus retrograde that begins there asks those questions in full, and it does not accept a polite answer.

So the usual Venus retrograde themes, old loves, old values, old spending, arrive with Scorpio's intensity behind them. Something ends so that something truer can begin. That is the phoenix. The retrograde then slides back into Libra, Venus's own sign, where the question turns to fairness, balance, and what a relationship between equals looks like. First the depth, then the repair.

Where it lands in your chart

The general meaning is the same for everyone. The personal meaning depends on where Scorpio and Libra sit in your birth chart, and on what Venus touches as it moves between 22 Libra and 8 Scorpio.

If you have planets or angles in those degrees, this retrograde is personal. Venus has crossed them three times: once going forward in September and October, once going backward now, and once more going forward after November 13. The third pass is usually when the resolution arrives.

If you have a Scorpio or Libra Sun, Moon, or Rising, or Venus in either sign, you will likely recognize the themes already. The house those signs occupy tells you the area of life under review: partnership, money, work, home, friendship, and so on.

What to do with it

This is a transformation, not a punishment, and you are not a passenger in it. A few things that help:

  • Let the past come back without jumping. If someone reappears, notice what you feel before you decide anything. The feeling is the information.
  • Say the honest thing in your closest relationships. Scorpio rewards truth. Libra rewards fairness. You can do both.
  • Look at what you have been paying for, in money and in energy, and ask whether it still matches what you value.
  • Hold off on permanent changes to your look or on large purchases of beautiful things until after November 13 if you can.
  • Take care of your body. Water, rest, time in nature. Venus retrogrades are tiring in a quiet way.

After November 13, Venus moves forward again, and through mid December it retraces the same ground. That is the window to act on what you learned.
