Numerology basics: your core numbers
Numerology reads meaning in numbers, and a few of them, drawn from your birth date and full name, sketch a surprisingly personal portrait.
What it is
Numerology is an ancient practice that assigns meaning to numbers and reduces larger numbers down to a single digit (with three exceptions, see below). Astrodites uses the Pythagorean system, the most common in the West.
From your birth date and birth name, a handful of "core numbers" are calculated. Each one describes a different layer of you.
Your core numbers
Your Life Path, from your birth date, is the most important, the overall theme and journey of your life, a bit like your Sun sign in astrology. Your Expression (or Destiny), from the letters of your full birth name, describes your natural talents and what you're here to develop.
Your Soul Urge, from the vowels in your name, is your inner motivation, what your heart quietly craves. Your Personality, from the consonants, is the first impression others meet. And your Personal Year cycles 1-9, setting the tone of your current chapter.
Master numbers
Most numbers reduce to a single digit, but 11, 22, and 33 are kept whole, the "master numbers." They carry an intensified version of their root (11→2, 22→4, 33→6): greater potential paired with a steeper learning curve. If one shows up in your chart, it's an invitation, not a verdict.
How it helps you
Numbers give you a second language for the same self your chart describes. Knowing your Life Path can clarify what genuinely fulfils you; knowing your Personal Year can help you work with the year's natural current, when to begin, build, rest, or release.
